Luke Verrall

Principal Ecologist

Luke Joined Temple in 2023 as Principal Ecologist in our Wakefield office, and has over 12-years’ ecological consultancy experience

 

Luke brings to Temple a keen interest in all things ornithology and biodiversity net gain (BNG), along with extensive knowledge and experience of most protected species and assessment methodologies. Prior to joining Temple, Luke spent nine-years working at Tetra Tech where he climbed the ranks from Consultant to Principal Ecologist. Most recently, Luke was on a long-term secondment where he assumed the role of ecology lead for detailed ecological design along a section of HS2 (Phase 1).

 

Luke is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and holds protected species Class licences for Barn owl, Bats (level 1) and Great Crested Newt (level 1), and has also been involved with badger and great crested newt mitigation licensing.

 

Outside of work, Luke enjoys long walks, camping, swimming, DIY, attending folk festivals and helping to run a local Beaver Scout group.
