ASSESSMENT OF AIR QUALITY AND NOISE EFFECTS ON THE RAPID WIDENING OF THE M25
PROJECT M25 Rapid Widening from Junction 5 to Junction 6 CLIENT Chris Blandford Associates / Highways Agency SERVICE Air Quality and Noise Assessment PROJECT PERIOD 2004 - 2007

PROJECT OUTLINE

Temple provided an assessment of the air quality and noise effects of the proposed scheme (from dual 3 to dual 4 lanes) for inclusion in an Environmental Statement.

Baseline air pollutant concentrations and noise levels were modelled at sensitive receptors close to the proposed widening and to determine the future air pollutant concentrations and noise levels post scheme. Comparisons were made to the National Air Quality Objectives to determine whether these Objectives could be achieved.

Temple’s ability to respond promptly and provide a robust and critical overview of assumptions (including traffic survey datasets) led to an extended brief for the HA notably a review and auditing across the scheme.

M25 widening scheme to improve the road and accommodate up to 200,000 vehicles per day.
