David Hope-Thomson

Associate Director - Ecology

David is an experienced ecologist and Team Manager with 18 years’ professional experience in protected species survey and assessment holding Natural England protected species survey licences for rare reptiles, great crested newt (Class 2) and the GCN low impact class licence. David is also a water vole CL31 displacement class licence holder with circa 20 years species experience.

Experienced working across a wide array of disciplines including renewables (solar and BESS), highways, rail and construction including, projects of local to European importance. Of note, being the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (largest example of habitat creation in Europe in 150yrs (at that time)), Barking Riverside (UK’s largest ever T&C planning application) and Cleve Hill Solar Park NSIP (UK’s largest approved solar application, at that time). The variety of sectors and projects worked on has ensured a wide array of practical experience in Ecology & Environmental legislation, site assessments, species surveys, impact assessment and mitigation, Ecological Clerk of Works supervision for sites across the UK.

Outside the office, David enjoys hiking, reading and travelling.
