Temple’s recent promotions: Jose Estrada, air quality

Temple has recently announced a wave of promotions across the business, please see our key people page for some of our staff’s new titles. This month we’re focusing on one of our new Consultants, José Estradawhose promotion has just come into effect. José has just been promoted to a Consultant in our air quality team, following a successful year with Temple as a Graduate Consultant. We had a quick catch up with José to discuss what first drew him to his chosen career and what projects he’s currently working on.

What first drew you to a career in the environmental sector?

I have always been interested in protecting nature and the environment. When I started my degree in Chemical Engineering I realised that the environmental side of it was the part I enjoyed the most. Since then I have specialised in environmental issues finally focusing on air quality. Knowing that you are doing your part to protect the environment and make a difference in the world around you is very rewarding.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

At the moment we are working on air quality assessments for two major residential developments in London, this includes modelling and understanding the impact of new homes and traffic on local air quality. I also manage to get out on on-site undertaking construction and baseline air quality monitoring, including those at Farringdon Crossrail station and HS2.

What’s the best thing about working at Temple?

I would say people: being part of a friendly and motivating team is one of the best parts. Besides that, I love the fact that we have opportunities to get involved in projects from the early stages, so I can get the full picture of the process from proposal to delivery. That has allowed me to learn a lot from different colleagues outside of my technical discipline.

We would like to extend our congratulations to José and keep up the great work.
