The team works closely with a wide range of local authority clients on their housing needs and how this may be effectively addressed.

We realise the fundamental need for effective planning for housing that it is a multidimensional effort that supports societal progress. It ensures that growing populations have access to affordable, sustainable, and quality homes while promoting economic growth and environmental stewardship. Effective housing policies are a foundation for resilient and thriving communities.

Housing needs assessments

Supporting local authorities to build the evidence needed to develop housing policies that are deemed sound at the examination. The policy environment is subject to frequent change. Temple supports councils to navigate these changes and address key requirements including the housing need figure; the need for affordable housing; the housing mix; and housing for specific groups including older and disabled people, students, renters and those seeking to build their own homes.

Housing land supply and delivery

Temple provides advice to local authorities on the robustness of their land supply, assessing whether statutory requirements and policy aims are likely to have been met, for example identifying enough land to meet housing targets. In the context of macro-economic turbulence, we consider the risk of homes not coming forward as expected.
