Mike leads our Regional South-East and London Ecology Team. He is an aquatic ecologist with over 26 years of experience in regulatory and consultancy roles. He is a Chartered Environmentalist (C.Env) with technical specialisms in fisheries science, aquatic ecology, aquatic habitat restoration and water quality.
Prior to working for Temple, Mike spent over 10 years with the Environment Agency before moving into ecological consultancy in 2008, where he has since held senior roles with OHES Environmental Ltd, Thomson Ecology and most recently at WSP. Mike established and developed successful aquatic ecology and environmental monitoring business units at each of these companies while leading large teams of ecologists delivering high quality services to a range of high-profile clients including Heathrow Airport, HS2, Hynet, East-West Rail, Highways England, Environment Agency, Thames Water and numerous Local Authorities.
Mike has particular experience in the design, management and delivery of large-scale ecological monitoring programmes, high profile water quality studies, pollution incident assessment, management and remediation projects, and providing technical input into strategic studies and assessments for planning, development and research projects, including Water Framework Directive assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, technical reports, Environmental Flows Management Plans. Mike’s experience includes projects across sectors including water, rail, highways, aviation, marine, energy (onshore/offshore cable routes and pipelines) and housing.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys watching his children play football and hockey, live music, fitness training, playing and watching football, playing golf and sea fishing.
