Stephen joined Temple in July 2017 as a Principal Consultant and is responsible for raising the profile of the Manchester office and providing EIA and planning support services in the north. He has over 10 years’ experience in the private sector and has advised a range of high profile clients, including Network Rail, Centrica, Asda and Persimmon Homes.
Stephen’s main interest is in Environmental Impact Assessment and the positive role that the process can play in helping to identify and design out potential adverse environmental effects associated with development. His Masters dissertation focussed on the consideration of alternatives in EIA for UK transport schemes, and through his recent rail experience he has been able to experience first-hand the benefits of environmental specialists working alongside project engineers to ensure that environmental considerations are given sufficient weight in the design process.
Prior to joining Temple, Stephen worked at RSK, Drivers Jonas, Scott Wilson and two Greater Manchester Local Authorities.
Whilst Stephen is based in Manchester he has experience in all corners of the UK, including a waste facility in Aberdeenshire, a wind farm in South Wales, a new supermarket in County Down and rail freight siding extension in Derbyshire.
Outside of the office Stephen enjoys walking, photography, gardening and real ale. He is also a big sports fan and whilst his playing days are all but over, he enjoys watching football (Manchester United) and cricket (Lancashire CCC).
