Temple is excited to share that Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru has been launched. The company’s main goal will be to accelerate the development of renewable energy projects, with their primary focus being onshore wind and the wider Welsh public estate and maximise their value for the people of Wales.
The Trydan Gwyrdd team, based in Merthyr Tydfil, will work alongside Natural Resources Wales to develop wind farms on the woodland estate. They will begin engaging with communities near initial sites at the earliest opportunity.
The Welsh Government has appointed industry experts to its Renewable Energy Developer (RED) Programme, which will handle environmental assessments for several significant renewable energy projects across Wales. The RED Programme aims to develop wind projects on publicly owned land, reinforcing the Welsh Government’s commitment to renewable energy and establishing Wales as a leader in the UK’s publicly owned renewable energy development.
Over the next four years, experts from WSP, Mott MacDonald, LUC, Temple, Dulas, JCTR, and Axis will collaborate to identify and deliver these projects. They will provide key services across various domains, including environment, transport, planning, and heritage.
The primary goal is to secure the necessary environmental and planning consents for these energy projects while offering advice on broader aspects such as planning, transport, ecology, forestry, cultural heritage, and social value.
Delivering social value is a critical component of the RED Programme. With a focus on community and environmental values, the initiative aims to create jobs and economic opportunities by partnering with local businesses and suppliers.
Simon Butler, Senior Director for Temple, said: “Temple is delighted to be working on this strategically important project which will help the Welsh Government and people of Wales secure a long-term future for renewable energy.”
Julia James, Minister for Climate Change, said: “I am pleased to announce that we have appointed experts from across the industry to oversee projects by Wales’ publicly owned renewable energy developer company. Their expertise will help deliver our ambitious target to generate over a gigawatt of locally owned energy generation by 2030, and our manifesto commitment to generate at least an additional 100 MW by 2026. I thank all of our new framework members for showing their commitment to their role and look forward to seeing their work in action.”
Mark Hurley, Managing Director for Water, Energy, Earth & Environment at WSP, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting the Welsh Government’s commitment to achieve net zero by delivering clean energy projects. The key to decarbonising the UK’s energy supply lies in increasing the capacity of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. WSP is excited to collaborate with our partners to turn this ambition into a reality for the people of Wales.”
Martin Phillips, Technical Director at Mott MacDonald said: “This is an exciting and groundbreaking project. I’m beyond pleased that Mott MacDonald is part of a project looking to deliver renewable energy in Wales, with a core focus on doing the right thing for the environment and the people in Wales. A great step forward in line with the Future Generations (Wales) Act.”

The RED Programme is a tremendous opportunity for us to make a difference.”
Andy Skipton-Carter, Head of Consultancy at Dulas, said: “With over 40 years experience of delivering successful renewable energy projects in Wales, we are delighted to be a part of the RED Programme and supporting the Welsh Government in meeting its renewable energy commitments’”

Mae Temple yn gyffrous i rannu bod Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru wedi cael ei lansio. Prif nod y cwmni fydd cyflymu datblygiad prosiectau ynni adnewyddadwy, gyda’u prif ffocws ar wynt ar y tir ac ystad gyhoeddus ehangach Cymru a chynyddu eu gwerth i bobl Cymru.
Bydd tîm Trydan Gwyrdd, sydd wedi’i leoli ym Merthyr Tudful, yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru i ddatblygu ffermydd gwynt ar yr ystâd goetir. Byddant yn dechrau ymgysylltu â chymunedau ger safleoedd cychwynnol cyn gynted â phosibl.
Mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi penodi arbenigwyr yn y diwydiant i’w Rhaglen Datblygwyr Ynni Adnewyddadwy (RED), a fydd yn ymdrin ag asesiadau amgylcheddol ar gyfer nifer o brosiectau ynni adnewyddadwy sylweddol ledled Cymru. Nod y Rhaglen RED yw datblygu prosiectau gwynt ar dir sy’n eiddo cyhoeddus, gan atgyfnerthu ymrwymiad Llywodraeth Cymru i ynni adnewyddadwy a sefydlu Cymru fel arweinydd ym maes datblygu ynni adnewyddadwy sy’n eiddo cyhoeddus yn y DU.
Dros y pedair blynedd nesaf, bydd arbenigwyr o WSP, Mott MacDonald, LUC, Temple, Dulas, JCTR, ac Axis yn cydweithio i nodi a chyflawni’r prosiectau hyn. Byddant yn darparu gwasanaethau allweddol ar draws meysydd amrywiol, gan gynnwys yr amgylchedd, trafnidiaeth, cynllunio a threftadaeth.
Y prif nod yw sicrhau’r caniatâd amgylcheddol a chynllunio angenrheidiol ar gyfer y prosiectau ynni hyn tra’n cynnig cyngor ar agweddau ehangach megis cynllunio, trafnidiaeth, ecoleg, coedwigaeth, treftadaeth ddiwylliannol, a gwerth cymdeithasol.
Mae darparu gwerth cymdeithasol yn elfen hollbwysig o’r Rhaglen COCH. Gyda ffocws ar werthoedd cymunedol ac amgylcheddol, nod y fenter yw creu swyddi a chyfleoedd economaidd trwy bartneriaeth â busnesau a chyflenwyr lleol.
