The Ecology Consultancy’s MD John Newton Announces His Retirement

After 17 years of growing and managing The Ecology Consultancy (Temple’s sister company), John Newton stepped down at the end of September. He will continue to work as a Strategic Adviser to The Ecology Consultancy from October 2016 to March 2017.

John Newton has instituted a Leadership Team that comprises senior staff who have worked in the business for over 10 years and/or have been responsible for helping it to grow into the company it is today with 5 regional offices, 70 employees and a regular annual turnover of over £3m. Both The Ecology Consultancy and John have every confidence that the Leadership Team will take the company on to great things in the future. Plans are in place for service and regional expansion, some of which are already in place with the launch of their new in-house Arboricultural Consultant Services and the recent expansion into the Midlands region with the launch of a new office in Stafford.

The Ecology Consultancy Leadership Team is:

Tom McArthur – Technical Director (Operations)

Giles Coe – Technical Director (Regions)

Jon Riley – Technical Director (Technical Standards and Innovation)

Jane Kendall – Head of Support Services

John will be working even more closely with Temple Group to provide a broader range of services, which will bring important benefits to all of our clients.

Mark Southwood, Chair of The Ecology Consultancy Board and Group CEO (of its owners Temple Group Management Ltd), will continue to take an active role in the organisation’s growth agenda.

On his departure, John states:

“It has been a real pleasure to work with a great team over the years, many of whom are still with the company. It’s also been an honour to work with so many clients who have trusted us to guide them through the various workings of biodiversity guidance and legislation, and engaged enthusiastically with the agenda to the benefit of their projects and their reputation.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people we have worked with over the years for their support and friendship.”

Temple wishes John all the best for the future and we look forward to collaborating closely with the leadership team.
