Devonshire Square Receive Unanimous Support at Southwark’s Planning Committee
Temple Group is happy to announce that Shaw Corporation acting as strategic advisors on behalf of Barkwest Limited have secured a unanimous resolution to grant planning permission at the London Borough of Southwark’s Planning Committee for Devonshire Square – A comprehensive residential led mixed-use development of up to 565 homes and over 4700 m2 of employment floorspace on the Old Kent Road opposite the planned new Bakerloo Line station at the former Toys R’ Us site.
The development design by Allies and Morrison including a 39 storey tower stepping down to 22, 12, 10 storey respectively is part of the wider regeneration taking place in the Old Kent Road opportunity area.
Temple Group Ltd supported the hybrid application undertaking the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), authoring the assessments on Socio-Economics and Air Quality, Health Impact Assessment, Code for Construction Practice and supported by our sister company The Ecology Consultancy who undertook the Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Bat Surveys and Arboriculture Impact Assessment.
The experienced EIA team enabled the smooth running of the project identifying risks and suitably managing them early on in the project supporting the design team to ensure environmental considerations were embedded into the scheme and developing mitigation strategies where required. Our flexible approach enabled us to efficiently manage and deal with changes to project scope without delay to project submission.
