Temple Group is happy to share that the Mayor of London has recommended for approval, the planning application for Bishopsgate Goodsyard submitted by a joint venture of Hammerson plc and Ballymore. This development will provide up to 500 residential units and up to 130,940 m² of business use, as well as hotel, retail, community and entertainment floorspace and 25,812 m2 of public open space.
It would bring back into permanent use the goods yard site, in Shoreditch, which has been predominantly vacant since a fire in 1964.
The development includes restoration of original features including the Grade II listed Braithwaite Viaduct, new buildings including a 26 storey building on the western side of the Site, a raised park above the viaduct, and half of the provided homes designated as affordable.
As well as coordination and production of the Environmental Statement (ES), Temple provided specialist assessments for socio-economics, climate change, noise and vibration and air quality, as well as supporting documents including a rapid Health Impact Assessment, a Regeneration Statement and a Code of Construction Practice Part A. Temple’s ecology division also provided specialist ecological assessment and advice.
The experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team enabled the smooth running of the project identifying risks and suitably managing them early on in the project, supporting the design team to ensure environmental considerations were embedded into the scheme and developing mitigation strategies where required.
