Background

Many organisations that own or deal with the issues surrounding brownfield land rely on technical consultants to provide them with the knowledge and expert opinion they need.  Temple professionals have extensive experience in supporting a wide variety of private and public sector clients. 

Temple’s team of environmental and engineering professionals has a proven track record of coordinating and integrating multi-disciplinary teams and in providing a cost effective service from desk top (Phase 1) audits through to remediation.

Service Requirements

Temple has a thorough understanding of current UK contaminated land legislation and guidance and undertakes work in accordance with current best practice.  We are constantly seeking to improve this through our in-house expertise and our practical experience.

Services include:

  • Preparation of Phase 1 environmental audits;
  • Design and carry out Phase 2 ground investigations and risk assessments;
  • Design and supervise remedial works;
  • Assess and advise on potential remediation liabilities and costs;
  • Assist local authorities with their inspection programmes and strategy;
  • Apply and manage tax issues, consents, grants and funding;
  • Perform in the role of managing consultant, managing agent  or project/programme manager;
  • Prepare contract documents and provide procurement advice/support;
  •  Act as a advisers to residents and others affected by land contamination; and
  • Provide litigation support and expert witness statements.

We can also supplement our in-house team by drawing on our Associates, many of whom are leaders in their field.

We work closely with you to understand your needs and generally work in a bespoke manner and can work either independently or supplement your organisations’ in-house project team.  We are used to collaborative working and have good links with many other professional service providers including: urban designers; civil engineers; site investigation; and remedial works contractors.

We regularly take the lead role in discussions with local authority or Environment Agency regulators, and have key specialists and facilitators who are experienced at communicating with residents and other parties affected by land contamination.

  • Arms Length Management Organisation ALMO);

Most projects are driven by the need to investigate and measure environmental damage, apportion liability for the necessary corrective action or implement remedial measures.  There may also be a need for ad hoc advice or additional interim management support during demanding and complex projects.

Charging Structure

Temple is very competitive on price when compared to some larger organisations.  Our proposals often offer a combination of fixed price services and fees on a time and expenses basis with pre-arranged budget ceilings.  Our rates range from £200 to £800 per day depending on the level of expertise required.
