Tony Charlesworth - Associate

Tony Charlesworth is a media and communications expert. He provides Temple clients with specialist skills in handling the communication of technical and scientific issues to stakeholders such as the mass media and the general public. Tony tackles Risk Communication issues through one-day and two-day experiential workshop training modules that have been specially developed in collaboration with Temple Group. 

Formerly on the staffs of BBC Television, BBC Radio, The Associated Press, Shandwick PR, and the Reuters News Agency, Tony has over 20 years’ senior-level experience as a journalist, TV producer and director, media and communications consultant, trainer, and university teacher. He started his own communications business,Tony Charlesworth Associates Ltd http://www.tonycharlesworthassociates.com/  in 2000.

At BBC Television Centre and at BBC Broadcasting House, London, he worked with top presenters and correspondents, including Jeremy Paxman, John Simpson, Peter Snow, Michael Buerk and Mark Thompson (now BBC Director-General). Tony wrote, produced and directed news packages and filmed reports over eight years for Newsnight, the Nine o’clock News, the Six o’clock News, Breakfast, Radio 4’s Today Programme, and Yesterday in Parliament.

For eleven years, he was Senior Producer/Director for the business and corporate communications division of the Associated Press television affiliate, APTN, the world’s largest organisation for the gathering, production and distribution of news video. Tony also worked for the corporate division when it was under the ownership of the American ABC Television Network. After APTN, he worked as Head of Production in London for Shandwick International, one of the world’s major public relations agencies.
