About the role:

This is a key role in helping to deliver Temple’s growth in Greater Manchester and the North of England following the launch of our office in central Manchester in October 2016.  In particular you will lead the development and delivery of our infrastructure portfolio, building on our existing track record and client relationships.

You will use and actively develop a network of contacts in client organisations (e.g. transport project promoters and contractors), strategic partners and other collaborators to win and deliver work. You will be supported by and work closely with colleagues across the Temple and The Ecology Consultancy.  You will work very closely with Temple’s Associate Director in Manchester who has been establishing our initial position in the market and leads our work in the property and regeneration sectors.

Client care is at the heart of the role which will require you to achieving a balance between delivering projects and developing new opportunities.  Your role in project delivery may be as project director, project manager, framework manager and/or technical lead.  In business development you will spend some of your time pursuing long term higher value stand-alone projects, framework opportunities and key accounts.  You will also lead or contribute to bids for projects of all scales.  You will be comfortable introducing a range of relevant Temple propositions including infrastructure route appraisal, Environmental Impact Assessments, pre-planning or construction environmental monitoring/management.  A track record of delivering successfully to clients and an active network of contacts in the transport infrastructure arena in the north is essential.

About the role:

  • Experience of writing technical reports for a variety of projects
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams working to tight deadlines and strictly defined budgets

It will be an advantage if you have:

  • Sufficient knowledge of air quality and/or other technical services to represent these disciplines in client meetings
  • Demonstrable experience of business development and bidding

What we’re looking for?

We are seeking an inspiring, bright and decisive Town Planner with a good degree of credibility to work in our Planning Team. You will have your own network of Client contacts and be capable of winning new work

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant Degree in Town Planning / Regeneration
  • Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Significant relevant experience within the planning and environment sectors, particularly in the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals

Socio-economics graduate

  • We are looking for a graduate to work on socio-economic assessments and other socio-economic projects, at Temple. We are a small team at Temple so we work creatively with other disciplines including our in-house planners, environmental and regeneration consultants to deliver projects, which include a range of high profile projects in infrastructure and property development.
  • We are looking for a graduate who is equally at home with data analysis and technical writing. We would like to hear from you if you have an academic background in economic development or another social science.

What we’re looking for from you?

Successful graduate candidates will:

  • Have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the discipline for which they are applying
  • Be organised, flexible, motivated, professional, enthusiastic and proactive with a strong work ethic

In addition to the above, consultant candidates will:

  • Have a couple of years’ experience of employment in the discipline for which they are applying

In all roles it would be an advantage to have an understanding of EIA.
