Light Pollution - 14th February 2007

The NSCA hosted a conference on Light Pollution at the Institute of Physics on 14th February 2007.

The conference provided an essential update for all those concerned with managing the impact of light on the local and wider environment. Since the introduction of light as a nuisance under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 there has been an increasing level of interest in lighting issues both from the public and local authorities.

The conference was attended by 115 delegates and was chaired by Graham Parry .   With 10 speakers covering a diverse range of subjects from Dark Skies, Tranquillity Mapping , Impact of light on Bats to Controlling Light through the Planning Process a lively debate ensued about the issues.

The conference attracted a large amount of media interest with a number of radio and television interviews taking place both prior to and during the conference. The conference whilst dealing with the local issues related to lighting continually returned to the much wider issue of energy conservation and the extent to which the appropriate use of lighting and new lighting designs could assist in the measures being taken against global warming.

For further information on these issues please contact us on 0207 394 3700 / enquiries@templegroup.co.uk  or view our range of lighting services by clicking on the link below.
