Background
Temple provided interim-management support to the Halcrow Olympics Site Verification Team, to assist them with the Olympic South Site remediation and verification works.
Temple played a key role in managing the remediation of Construction Zone 1a and 1b of the Olympic South Site i.e. Aquatics Centre and Services Corridor respectively.
Sustainable remediation technologies, which included soil washing and bioremediation were employed on-site to treat significant volumes of contaminated soils. Temple also provided oversight of on-site laboratory support and sampling teams, responsible for remediation system performance management and the verification and validation of soils.
This was a very demanding role, working to a very tight Construction Programme, ensuring the correct, efficient and safe handling, storage, treatment or re-use of materials on-site.
In addition, site remediation specifications were modified on occasions by the remediation design team, presenting significant challenges to the verification team to ensure impacts to the construction programme were minimised.
Temple drew on their in-depth experience in the management of large scale contaminated land projects including site investigations, remediation system design and installation, contractor oversight and occupational health experience thereby providing a significant contribution to the Olympic 2012 South Site remediation team.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Streamlining the on-site laboratory chemical scheduling system to facilitate high-volume sample analysis, ensuring the efficient re-use of soils on-site;
