Remedial Works Design and Supervision
Service Definition
Temple designs, manages and supervises a wide variety of brownfield remediation projects on behalf of clients.
Remedial works are recommended when unacceptable health or environmental risks have been identified during the risk assessment of a site or following accidental spillages. Translating these recommendations into a workable design and, ultimately, a ‘clean’ site, requires detailed planning.
Temple contaminated land specialists will consider
-
the best form of partnering or working arrangements
-
contract documentation
-
innovative design opportunities
-
potential impacts on the residents/occupants and the local community
-
environmental safeguards and controls
-
how communications are ‘best managed'
-
funding opportunities, etc.
to design and develop the most appropriate and cost effective remediation strategies for clients.
Familiarity with the process and parties involved is the key to delivering a safe, well organised and efficient project.

Service Users
Remedial works are usually carried out voluntarily by landowners, brownfield developers and operators of industrial premises, especially for those sites where oil or chemicals have been stored. Local authorities are increasingly involved in the promotion of remedial schemes and Temple has a proven track record in making successful applications to Defra for capital support for these projects.
Triggers
Remedial measures will be recommended when risks are judged to be unacceptable for the current or future use of the site. The remedial works succeed by either removing or treating the contaminant or by effectively blocking the pathway to key receptors.
Charging Structure
Temple rates are very competitive and we generally offer this service on a time and expenses basis with budget ceilings. However, we can produce a fixed price when required.
Temple personnel have worked on a wide range of remedial assignments with total costs ranging from under £500,000 to over £100m and with fees from £10,000 to over £500,000.
