Carbon Calculate Services

Background

Carbon Calculate - Temple GroupConcerns about climate change and its predicted consequences have forced all sectors of society to consider their respective impacts and actions.

The business community has an important role to play in addressing and overcoming climate risks.

The wider business community is now pushing for a formal regulatory framework in order to effectively plan and manage long term investments in an alternative/new low carbon economy.

Whatever regulatory framework is adopted, carbon footprinting will be necessary.  In the meantime, carbon footprints are now increasingly being reported both as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting and for more general use, see comments below.

The Benefits

In establishing your organisation’s carbon footprint your company can:

  • Understand climate risks to operations, now and in the future;
  • Identify and prioritise carbon reduction initiatives e.g. renewable energy technologies – which also bring about financial benefits;
  • Manage, in the short and longer term, your company’s carbon footprint, i.e. what gets measured gets managed.
  • Help develop strategies to protect and enhance the organisation’s reputation.

Services OfferedCarbon calculate services - Temple Group

Temple has a successful track record in the development and delivery of bespoke:

  • carbon footprinting tools;
  • carbon modelling tools.

We have worked with a range of clients from central government, private and non-profit/charitable foundation sectors.

Our Carbon Calculate footprinting and modelling tools are recognised as important business management tools.  These are important in gaining an understanding of the relevant carbon performance related indicators, which will ensure a better understanding of carbon related risks and opportunities.  This can, in turn, help your organisation respond appropriately and effectively to climate change challenges.

We work closely with our clients to agree the footprint boundaries, ensuring the appropriate emissions, both direct and indirect, are measured.

Our static carbon footprinting tool provides a “snapshot in time”, identifying your company’s carbon emission profile and where carbon efficiencies can be achieved.

A carbon footprint will identify and quantify key emissions sources (gas, electricity and transport), enabling you to prioritise and focus on those areas where the greatest carbon emission reductions can be achieved.

Calculating your company’s carbon footprint is an important first step in the development of a corporate climate change strategy.

Temple’s dynamic carbon modellingtool will help you understand carbon savings through time, using a range of renewable energy technologies and other carbon saving initiatives.

It is also an effective cost benefit analysis tool, helping you appreciate the true costs and benefits of carbon saving initiatives through a range of investment time horizons based on a range of scenarios e.g. the likely future market value of carbon.

Methodology Carbon modelling services

The methodology adopted in calculating the carbon footprint will be consistent and transparent across departments and offices, thereby ensuring confidence in the model output and in reported emission reductions achieved.  This performance can also be benchmarked against others to determine whether this meets best practice and the improvements required.

Our approach, based on industry best practice, involves a number of key stages:

  • Development of emission boundaries: direct and indirect emissions;
  • Collation of data, including site visits;
  • Estimation of each site’s carbon footprint;
  • Development of an emissions profile.
  • Horizon scanning to understand both short term and long term risk and liabilities
  • Develop a climate change policy and climate related key performance indicators

Recent Clients

  • A large multinational management consultant’s European headquarters;
  • A publicly listed self-storage company;
  • Built environment industry group and;
  • Major infrastructure transport project.
