The methodology adopted in calculating the carbon footprint will be consistent and transparent across departments and offices, thereby ensuring confidence in the model output and in reported emission reductions achieved. This performance can also be benchmarked against others to determine whether this meets best practice and the improvements required.
Our approach, based on industry best practice, involves a number of key stages:
- Development of emission boundaries: direct and indirect emissions;
- Collation of data, including site visits;
- Estimation of each site’s carbon footprint;
- Development of an emissions profile.
