Service Definition

Temple has a highly experienced team of marine, terrestrial, and aquatic ecologists. We are able to provide clients with a highly skilled and professional approach to ecology and biodiversity. We provide ecological survey and assessment expertise in land management and development projects. This also involves habitat restoration work and the integration of creative conservation into developments of all types and sizes.

Biodiversity and Ecology Services

We have provided input into a number of Environmental Impact Assessments covering a wide range of proposals and impacts.

Our services include:

  • Advice on pervasive/persistent species e.g. Giant Hogweed
  • Advice on protected species e.g. bats, badgers, newts
  • Ecological assessment of sites
  • Ecological surveys of wildlife habitats and species
  • Ecological mitigation design and habitat creation
  • Evaluation and management of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
  • Maintaining a watching brief of ‘sensitive’ sites
  • NVC and Phase 1 and 2 habitat surveys
  • Preparation of nature conservation management plans and strategies
  • Research, literature survey and analysis on ecological issues
  • River corridor survey
  • Specialist surveys of birds, mammals including bats, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates
  • Strategic planning, project feasibility studies and policy analysis
  • Support for planning applications hedgerow survey and assessment

Recent Projects

Recent assignments have included:

  • Providing experienced ecologists to work alongside contractors on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. An ecological watching brief was maintained in addition to the supervision of the translocation of ancient woodland, and specialist work relating to badgers, bats, water voles and great crested newts.
  • Preparation of an Ecological Management Plan and assessments and associated work for a contractor working on network rail structures.
