Acoustic Design - The Black Boy Public House

Client:

WH Brakespear & Sons Plc

Project period:

June 2004

Project:

The Black Boy Public House, Hurley

Contract value:

Confidential

Services provided

Provision of specialist advice on internal noise levels of renovated outbuildings for conversion to bedrooms and the determination of the requirement for additional acoustic mitigation, if required.

Temple carried out detailed traffic noise measurements at the site and calculated the sound reduction of the bedrooms based on their construction and therefore the worst-case internal noise levels. The acceptability of these noise levels were assessed against appropriate design standards and additional mitigation measures were designed in order to achieve acceptable and comfortable internal noise levels.

Benefits

Temple was able to offer advice to the developers on suitable construction methods and sound reduction practices in order to achieve a high acoustic standard of construction within the residential element of this upgraded and converted hostelry.
